SUMMER TIPS FOR KIDS

SUMMER IS HERE AND IT’S HOTTER THAN EVER!!!!

SO HOW DO WE SAVE OUR KIDS FROM THIS HEAT?


LET’S FIND OUT WITH THESE TIPS FOR THIS SUMMER.





HYDRATION









Hydration is a vital part of your child’s wellbeing. Hydration regulates the body temperature and keeps the body cool in the summers. 70% of our body is made up of water and any loss that harms this percentage is dangerous to the body.

Hydration in any form such as Water, Juice, Shakes, Slushes, Smoothies bring flavour to the summers and also encourages your child to stay hydrated.

Give your child a sipper and let them enjoy drinking in those.

If your child is 6 months or below, just remember, breastfeed is good enough for them as breastmilk contains sufficient amount of water.

And to the new moms out there, Drink as much water as you can. You need to be hydrated to give your child hydration.


CLOTHING











Wearing light, breathable fabrics like cotton / linen/ muslin preferably light colours and long sleeved while going to school or classes or at home is advised. it ll protect their skin from sunburn and tanning.

SKIN CARE












Apply sunscreen with SPF 30 or more, 10-15 mins prior to going out. Apply it even on cloudy day. You can apply sunscreen every 3 hourly.

Avoid going out in sun during 11 am to 4 pm unnecessarily.


SEASONAL FRUITS











Give 2-3 slices of summer fruits such as watermelon, muskmelon, mango, orange, apples, grapes, cucumber, etc.

Children should eat all seasonal fruits at all times.

FRUIT JUICES & SHAKES: you can offer various homemade fruit smoothies, slushes. It’ll boost their immunity and protect them from infections which are on a high rate during this time.


SUNGLASSES & HATS











Not just style, but sunglasses and hats are much more than that. Not only do they protect your child from the harsh UV rays of the sun but also maintain a cool body temperature and avoids eye irritation and damage.

They also protect your child from dangerous conditions like Heat Exhaustion and Heat Stroke.

So what kind of sunglasses and hat should I buy you say?

Any hat that covers your child’s forehead is a good hat. Always make sure of this when you buy a hat.

Sunglasses which cover the full eye from all sides is a good pair of sunglasses


EAT HEALTHY/ AVOID JUNK FOOD













Summer vacations are a headache for parents. All that the kids want are junk food. Whether it is cold drinks or ice-creams or candies OR if it Pizzas, Burgers, Fries or even Fried food.

Ice creams and Cold Drinks are a big reason for tonsillitis in the summers. A transition from warm liquids to cold liquids be it water should be done slowly as a sudden change is not advised.

Fried food is not advisable as such food items increases acidity and stomach issues.

Always try to give them freshly cooked homemade meals.

A balanced diet provides required nutrients and boosts immunity.


REGULAR BATHS












sweat is a common issue and becomes a source of infection.

Keep your little one refreshed by giving them a bath twice a day during the summers. Children love soaking themselves in a bathtub.

Under Parental Guidance, it is a good idea to send your child for swimming.
