Hyperthyroidism or overactive thyroid gland is when thyroid makes too much of thyroid hormone for the body’s needs. The most common cause of hyperthyroidism is Grave’s disease which is also an autoimmune disease due to stimulation of thyroid gland by antibodies.

It is diagnosed by blood investigations done as per your symptoms. An ultrasound may be required in case of enlarged thyroid gland.
